The Gateway To Technology curriculum provides project-based learning that is exciting and challenging for the full range of students in today’s 8 th grade classrooms. During the GTT experience, students will gain the skills they need to develop, produce, and use products and services. GTT currently consists of four instructional units that motivate students to become creative innovators. This activity-oriented, cutting-edge program shows students how technology is used in engineering to solve everyday problems. Class Objectives: The Gateway to Technology (GTT) program addresses the interest and energy of middle school students while incorporating national standards in mathematics, science, and technology. We would greatly appreciate any donations. We are in need of the following items: scotch tape and Kleenex. Wish List: During the course of the year, we use many supplies in our classroom. Students will also need to purchase a composition notebook to use as your engineer’s notebook this year. What to Bring: Students should bring a pencil or a pen to class each day. Students will be given tool safety and handling instruction and must pass a safety test before using any tools. Important Note: To complete hands-on activities students will use hand tools and power tools including saws, drills, hot glue guns, and soldering irons. It is my hope that your child’s success in Gateway to Technology will be a team effort! In order to facilitate effective communication this year, I have provided my contact information and some important things concerning this class. I hope to have a productive year with your child as we learn what it is to be an engineer. Syllabus for Gateway to Technology Dear Parent(s) / Guardian(s): Greetings!
